Ecclesiastes 11:9
Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.
God is the giver of good gifts. Youth is a gift. One day you will be old. You will watch day time television…and like it. You will dinner at 4:30 in the afternoon. You eat cereal with bran not because you want to but because you must. Until those days you are young and God has given you this season to enjoy. Are you making the most of it? Or is most of your time and money and effort spent on things that, even in 5 years, will seem irrelevant to you?
If you want a call worth following and a charge worth devoting your life to consider Jesus’ words in Matt 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. When you are old and the gift of youth has long past will you be glad to have spent it chasing inane temporary fads or pursuing the global, immortal, eternal purposes of your God and King, Jesus Christ?
October 7-9…don’t miss out!
On friday we talked about praying according to the promises God has made in His word…here are four verses to shape your prayers for your friends:
Matt 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. [God has commanded us...He is with us Father, Son and Spirit]
Psalm 96:2-3 Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. [We bring the Good News that salvation is in God...pray for joy in proclaiming the Gospel]
Rom 10:13-14 “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? [Our friends need us to preach the Gospel, pray for strength]
Colossians 4:2-3 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains [Without prayer we can't prevail...only God can change hearts].
